Hello Blogosphere!

since I am nowhere to be found in the world of social networking, i've decided to start a blog.  for me it's a way to keep my family and friends a part of my little rock life and an outlet for expression during austin's deployment.  bear with me as i get the hang of this, get my page looking the way i want and all the rest! 

downydiaries is inspired by my new friend and favorite patron to my birdfeeder: the downy woodpecker.  i've always considered myself an old soul, and now being an avid gardener and crazy bird lady, i think we can say for a fact, this is true.  but besides that, the pleasure i get from this bird draws me closer to our Creator, for i can feel His love for me through my admiration of the downy.  he's one of those characters that happens on you when you least expect it.  don't even try to sit and wait with a camera...that's a lost cause.  he won't come back.  he knows you're watching.  the only thing to do is be still and gaze upon his splendor.  you won't see him again for a few days.
